good slides... but does he walk around too much?  he seems very relaxed... but I know that everything is really carefully rehearsed beforehand. Is this a mistake?

A presentation that makes you move :D !

Julian Treasure: The 4 ways sound affects us :

Excellent synchronization between the speaker and the presentation progress!
It lasts just about 5' minutes, the presenter speaks continuously but with a big confidence, keeps a beautiful tone while speaking and gives lots of nice and effective examples.

The guy was just speaking, totally immobile, but with some magic power I felt that he was piloting the audience constantly moving with his presentation!! No way to get bored :))))

stephen hawking's answers to big questions

i love this guy, i'm fascinated everytime i hear him

his speech is direct, clear reasoning, with short phrases and everybody can understand it

otherwise, last day i heard about another (funny?) theory about the beginning of the universe:
the idea is that the universe is created by a very advanced civilization capable of creating
universes, so that everybody of that civilization could create an universe. The basis of this
theory is that we find in nature things that we cannot explain with the evolution theory of
darwin (like how the vertebrates and the crustaceans developed the same mechanism of
vision -eyes-), but that an "intelligent design" could explain...

the problem is who created that civilization, another civilization of universe designers?

or maybe we should ask ourselves more about our future than about our beginning :))))

Hans Rosling: Asia's rise -- how and when

This video does not tell about the technology, not about the science but about Asian countries. Through this video, I see a bright future for my country, Vietnam. I hope that this will be true and it happens soonner so that we will be able to escape from the current poor situation.

How to make waves on the web

This presentation is a very good example on how to get a message across to an audience in a very short time.
The ingredients :
- Begin the speech with a little joke to relax the audience
- Rapidly exposing the concept
- And go on with a meaningful illustration
- Finally, conclude with a much more general message (and a bit philosophic !)
Moreover, humour makes the presentation more attractive and creates an interaction with the audience so that he has fun too, and if he has fun...the audience too...

I think this presentation illustrates very well the fact that the web is the best place to create a buzz, which makes that media very powerful and totally uncontrollable (but what's the matter ?).

Alexis Ohanian: How to make a splash in social media | Video on TED.com

His objective was a 3 minutes presentation so he had to speak very fast, maybe a bit too fast ?

thinking about the future

http://www.ted.com/talks/marvin_minsky_on_health_and_the_human_mind.html

I find this presentation quite imaginative and funny. Nevertheless it is inciting us to think about the possible situations that we might need to face in the future and how we can adapt what we already know -- in a ludic, flexible way -- to solve the issues of our evolving world.

The answer is ...

Here is my choice of TED talks.

I chose it because it is nice to see the Google style in presentations and its introduction absolutely takes audience's attention to a different subject than the presentation!! That's brave, no?
